Leyya Mona Tawil is an artist and performer. She is a Syrian-Palestinian-American engaged in the world as such. Tawil is the artistic director DANCE ELIXIR and TAC: Temescal Art Center – a venue for experimental art in Oakland-CA. She founded DANCE ELIXIR in 2003 in order to pursue multidisciplinary collaborative work on an international scale.

Tawil’s work has been presented throughout Europe and the Levant, as well as regular engagements in New York City, Detroit and the SF Bay Area. Highlights include the TransDance15 Festival (Cairo), Stoffwechsel-Metabolism (Berlin), ConVerge at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco) and Transpositions at the Museum of Nonconformist Art in St. Petersburg.She has served as dance faculty at UM-Ann Arbor, Middlebury College and the University of San Francisco and teaches workshops internationally.
